Pollution Prevention Strategy for Michigan Agriculture

As Amended  October 29, 1997

Pictured above from left to right are some of the drafters of the strategy: Dr. Kurt Thelen, MDA; Larry Nobis, a dairy farmer from St. Johns; Paul Zugger, DEQ; MDA Director Dan Wyant; Tom Guthrie, a diversified farmer from Delton; and Jan Vosburg, a beef cattle farmer from Climax

A major new initiative to comprehensively address environmental pollution on the farm was unveiled in Lansing, Michigan on January 19, 1998. The strategy balances producers' right-to-farm with the need to protect Michigan's environment.  It emphasizes proactive pollution prevention at all stages of agricultural production.
