The Governor's Service Awards, one of Michigan's most prestigious volunteer recognition events, are presented annually to celebrate Michigan's volunteers. Hosted by Governor Jennifer M. Granholm, the event includes a reception for award finalists and sponsors followed by an awards presentation. The 2009 event, An Evening With the Stars, was held on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the Governor's Lansing Residence and featured Capital-area entertainment, Three Men and a Tenor.
The Governor's Service Awards provide excellent opportunities for corporate sponsors to demonstrate their commitment to volunteers and local communities. Each year, the event directly touches more than 2,000 individuals and organizations through the nomination, peer review, reception, and awards presentation.
