What Does AmeriCorps Do in Michigan?
AmeriCorps members have been "getting things done" in Michigan since 1994.  AmeriCorps members combat illiteracy, respond to disasters, build homes, mentor and tutor children, protect the environment, improve health care, and more.

When is AmeriCorps Week?
The third annual AmeriCorps Week is May 9-16, 2009.

What AmeriCorps Week Activities are Happening in Michigan?
Governor Jennifer M. Granholm will declare the week of May 9, 2009, as Michigan's AmeriCorps Week.  Many Michigan's AmeriCorps programs will host events and they encourage you to participate.

What Can I Do During AmeriCorps Week?
Those with a special interest in AmeriCorps are encourage to use their creativity to mark the week in any way they see fit.  For example, members and alumni could make presentations to students or community groups.  Grantees could stage an open house, service project, or volunteer fair.  Local officials and leaders could be asked to serve as an AmeriCorps member for a day.  And members and programs could spread the word about the power of service by writing letters to the editor or blogging about their service online.

Are There Resources Available for Michigan's AmeriCorps Programs?
Yes, the MCSC has created a  2009 AmeriCorps Week Tool Kit .  It contains a variety of resources and ideas to help Michigan's AmeriCorps programs increase their visability and plan activities.
