Become part of a growing number of people who are volunteering to keep our state's forests, highways, and parks beautiful.  Get involved in one of the Adopt A Part of Michigan programs.  There are three adoption programs-Adopt A Forest, Adopt A Highway, and Adopt A Park.

The goal of the Adopt a Forest program is to keep our public forest lands clean.  Volunteers work to eliminate illegal dumping and increase the awareness of recycling opportunities.  The Department of Natural Resources, Department of Environmental Quality, United States Forest Service, and Michigan Forest Resource Alliance host this program.  According to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Adopt A Forest program volunteers have removed illegally dumped trash from more than one million acres of public land since the program begin in 1991!  More than half of that trash was recycled.

The Adopt A Highway program matches more than 3,000 groups with nearly 7,000 miles of state roads that need regular clean up.  Groups beautify their sections of road during three scheduled pickups a year.  The Michigan Department of Transportation sponsors this program.

The Adopt A Park program partners volunteers with their favorite state park for a two-year period.  Volunteers participate in park beautification, construction projects, and special events.  The Department of Natural Resources sponsors this program.
