"Everyone Leads!" 2013 Michigan's AmeriCorps Member Celebration To kick-off a new year of AmeriCorps service, 400 Michigan's AmeriCorps members gathered in Lansing on November 21 to participate in the annual AmeriCorps Member Celebration. These members are dedicating a year of their lives to providing intensive, results-driven service in communities across Michigan and came together to celebrate their courage and commitment.
Governor Snyder, Mayor Bing launch expansion of AmeriCorps Governor & Mayor Initiative Urban Safety Corps Gov. Rick Snyder and Mayor Dave Bing today announced the launch and expansion of an innovative crime reduction model in the city of Detroit: the AmeriCorps Governor & Mayor Initiative Urban Safety Corps Program. A unique public-private partnership, the program utilizes 36 AmeriCorps members as catalysts to mobilize and recruit community volunteers to join them in improving public safety in targeted Detroit neighborhoods.
AmeriCorps Funding Creates More Than 700 Positions in Michigan The Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC) announced today that 22 organizations are receiving $6,593,709 in AmeriCorps funding in 2013-2014. These organizations will place 756 members in communities across Michigan to help "Get Things Done" in our state.
Governor Snyder Names New Appointees to MCSC Board of Directors Gov. Rick Snyder announced four appointments and two reappointments to the Michigan Community Service Commission.
Michigan Community Service Commission Awarded $262,500 to Support Volunteer Efforts The Michigan Community Service Commission, the state's lead agency on service and volunteerism, announced today the receipt of $262,500 in funding to support various volunteer activities and efforts in the state. The grant was provided by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency for volunteering and service, as part of their Volunteer Generation Fund.
