Conservation and Outdoor Recreation Conservation Pledge: I give my pledge as an American to save and faithfully defend from waste the natural resources of my country—its air, soils, and minerals, its forests waters and wildlife
For Michiganders, we have always had a special connection to the outdoors. The great lakes that line our shores, the abundant wildlife, and an ethic that teaches thoughtful conservation, wise use, and sound management.

As a young man, I spent many hours afield hunting upland birds, fishing the streams around my home, and exploring the forests. These traditions run deep in Michigan. During my time as a public servant, I have often recalled those early experiences and strive to ensure that Michigan progressively maintain our critical natural features.

As a sportsmen I know the dedication that all hunters, anglers, trappers, campers, hikers, backpackers, bird enthusiasts, and all users of our resources cherish the waters in which we fish, the land upon which we hunt, and scenic vistas we all enjoy.
