LANSING, March 31, 2006 – Lori Howe and her husband James walked away from Lottery Central millionaires today! The lucky Upper Peninsula woman scratched a
$1 million prize in the $1,000,000 Scratch Pack Instant game.
Howe, an optician for Meyer Family Vision, purchased the Scratch Pack ticket on her lunch break because her co-worker won $20 on the game. She couldn’t believe her eyes when she revealed a $1 million prize! Her husband was in such shock that he thought she was playing an April Fool’s Day joke on him!
The Negaunee woman plans to use the prize money to pay for her son’s college tuition and then she plans to invest the rest.
The regular Lottery player purchased the lucky winning ticket at Jubilee Foods, 900 US Highway 41 W, in Ishpeming.
$1,000,000 Scratch Pack is just one of many Michigan Lottery Instant tickets available at more than 10,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan. In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.
