Obtaining a Library Card
State of Michigan employees and affiliates of our shared online catalog, the faculty, students, and staff of Michigan State University (MSU), are eligible for Library of Michigan library cards. Library cards can be obtained in the manners described below.
State of Michigan Employees
State of Michigan employees can apply for library cards online or in person at the Library.
To apply online please complete the application below. A message will be sent to your work email account to notify you when your library card account has been setup, and your card will be delivered to you via ID Mail.
Alternately, you can apply for a card in person at the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor of the Library. The Library building is open Monday Friday, 10 am to 5 pm.
MSU Students, Staff and Faculty
MSU students, staff and faculty can apply for a library card in person at the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor of the Library. Applicants are required to show a current MSU ID card AND a valid Michigan Driver's license or state ID card. Out-of-state students may use their valid driver's license from their home states.
