Mini Adjustment Program Eligibility

To be eligible for the Mini Adjustment Program, a person must be a client of the (Michigan) Bureau of Services for Blind Persons and be referred by Bureau staff.

Besides being client of the Bureau, the person must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  1. Has received little training or rehabilitation services.
  2. Has experienced a recent or additional loss of sight.
  3. Has a change in his or her living situation which requires independence in daily living skills.

All clients must be their own legal guardian and be independent in the following areas: 

  1. Grooming
  2. Bathing or showering
  3. Use of the restroom
  4. Must have ability to be independent in the hotel guestroom.

At times, family members or personal aides attend to provide assistance to clients who are not independent in the areas listed above.
