Mini Adjustment Program Overview

Separate from the on-site BSBP Training Center courses, the week-long Mini Adjustment Programs are provided by Training Center staff at various locations around the state.  The Mini Adjustment Programs provide an introduction to skills of blindness and services provided by the (Michigan) Bureau of Services for Blind Persons partnering with other organizations.  The great feature of these programs is that they serve as a mobile classroom. This enables the Bureau to provide training at sites throughout the state in order to reach as many clients as possible. Although these can vary, some examples of classes offered include mobility (cane travel), communications, adaptive diabetes management, devices for people who are deaf, talking clocks, writing guides, Braille, and support groups. These services encourage clients to pursue further blind rehabilitation training. Classes are taught by Bureau staff including vocational rehabilitation teachers, orientation and mobility instructors, and vocational rehabilitation counselors.  Classes are also taught by Western Michigan University students and retired Bureau staff.
