Medications/Medical Information: Please bring medical insurance cards such as Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medicaid, Medicare, etc. If you participate in a Health Maintenance Organization, please inquire how they want you to handle any medical emergency while you are in Kalamazoo. This information should be related to center staff upon your arrival. Students taking prescription medication(s) are requested to have prescription(s) filled prior to arrival at the center and to bring with them a supply of medication sufficient to last their anticipated length of stay. Students who are not independent in self-administration of medications will have their medication(s) administered by center staff. Insulin-dependent diabetics should bring insulin and syringes. We also ask that you bring a written copy of your diet.
Family Services: This service allows for family members to participate, on a limited basis, in the student's ongoing program. Prior arrangements need to be made with center staff. We encourage family members and other significant persons in our students' lives to be involved with this service.
Visitors: Visitors are welcome during non-class times during the day. We ask that all visitors leave the center by 10:00 p.m.
Off-Campus Activities: With the assistance of a recreational therapist, various community-based activities are planned with the students who are participating in center programming.
Banking Services in the Kalamazoo Area: Many banks are reluctant to cash out-of-town drafts and usually charge a fee for this service. We encourage students to utilize money orders in small amounts for their incidental needs.
