A Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Program model to assess the child's level of fire interest and provide early intervention has been developed by the United States Fire Administration. A Juvenile Firesetter Resource Network was created to enable anyone to access appropriate intervention services. Intervention Includes: ·Assessment interviews of both the parent and the child to determine child's level of interest in fire ·Providing the curiosity firesetter with fire safety education ·Referring child/family to appropriate mental health or social service agencies for professional services ·Working with criminal justice agencies to hold youth accountable ·Working with community to provide multi-agency intervention.
