Barrier Free Design Board Responsibilities and Meeting ScheduleThe Barrier Free Design Board was created by Act 190 of 1974, amending 1966 PA 1 . The board has the responsibility to receive, review, and process requests for exceptions to the barrier free design specifications; require appropriate equivalent alternatives when exceptions are granted; receive, process, and make recommendations for barrier free design rules. The 9 members of the board are appointed by the governor, with the advice and consent of the senate, to serve 3-years terms. Upon expiration of a term, a member may continue to serve until a successor is appointed. Barrier Free Design Board Members Commission and Board Manual Final Orders of the Barrier Free Design Board 2013 Board meetings will be held at 2501 Woodlake Circle , Conference Room 3, 1st floor, Okemos at 9:30 a.m. on the following dates: Friday, January 18, 2013 Friday, March 15, 2013 Friday, May 17, 2013 - Agenda and Board Packet Friday, July 19, 2013 Friday, September 20, 2013 Friday, November 15, 2013 The meeting site and parking are accessible. Individuals attending the meeting are requested to refrain from using heavily scented personal care products, in order to enhance accessibility for everyone. Please make sure all cell phones, pagers and other personal electronic devices are turned off or set to vibrate. People with disabilities requiring additional services (such as materials in alternative format) in order to participate in the meeting should call the Plan Review Division at 517-241-9328 at least 10 work days before the event.
