| The bill amends Section 6 of the Playground Equipment
Safety Act. The title is amended to include maintenance as well as manufacturing
and assembling of public playground equipment. This is not an expansion.
Section 6 already includes maintenance, repair, and upkeep, but the title
of the bill does not reflect that.
The bill also requires the posting of a notice on all playground equipment
that contains chromated copper arsenate, a preservative commonly used
in pressure treating wood. The notice is required to state that the playground
equipment contains chromated copper arsenate and that hand washing after
contact is recommended. The notice may also include information concerning
the health risks associated with the substance
