The bill amends the Minimum Wage Law of 1964 to increase the current $5.15 minimum hourly wage rate to $5.65 on September 1, 2003 and $6.15 on January 1, 2004. Beginning January 1, 2005 the minimum wage will be increased by the amount of the cumulative annual change in the Consumer Price Index. The minimum wage for employees receiving gratuities is increased from the current $2.65 per hour to one half the minimum wage.
