The Michigan Department of Career
Development (MDCD) today announced funding for the operation of Michigan Works!
Service Centers totaling $4,500,000. The funding is awarded to the 25 Michigan
Works! agencies and will focus on improving customer service, purchase and/or
maintenance of equipment to carry out funded activities, and improving access
for individuals with disabilities or with limited English proficiency.
Funding for the operation of Michigan
Works! Service Centers is made available by the federal Reed Act, administered
through the Michigan Department of Career Development.
The Michigan
Department of Career Development is the state government agency charged with
providing the skilled workforce Michigan needs to enhance and maintain its economy.
To this end, the state's career and training development agency is working with
employers, K-12 schools, community colleges, and local Workforce Development
Boards to develop a comprehensive career development system. For more information
