Each year, the Michigan Career and Technical Institute (MCTI) offers state-of-the-art vocational and technical education training programs in 14 different career areas for adults with disabilities. These include Automotive Technology, Cabinetmaking/Millwork, Certified Nurse Assistant, Culinary Arts, Custodial, Customer Service, Electronics, Graphic Communications, Grounds Maintenance, Machine Technology, Pharmacy Services, Office Automation, Retail Marketing, and Building Services (Weatherization). Registration Day is September 12 for the 10-week fall term with classes beginning September 14. MCTI is operated by Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), and is located in Barry County in southwest Michigan.
Known as the second largest comprehensive rehabilitation training center in the United States, MCTI is accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA-CASI) and by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). MRS employs more than 250 master-degreed rehabilitation counselors who work one-on-one with Michiganders with disabilities who want to go to work and assist more than 7,000 individuals with disabilities achieve competitive employment and self-sufficiency annually. Students must have a qualifying disability and be referred through MRS or other partner agencies to attend MCTI.
