MPSC Approves Settlement Agreement Approving Power Purchase Agreement between Detroit Edison Company and Blue Water Renewables for Unique Landfill Gas Site

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved a settlement agreement approving a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) between The Detroit Edison Company and Blue Water Renewables, an affiliate of the utility.

The PPA is for 3.2 megawatts of renewable energy, capacity, and renewable energy credits (RECs) from a unique landfill gas project in St. Clair County believed to be the first commercial scale septage injection landfill gas source in the United States, that is, one that will use material extracted from septic tanks to promote faster landfill gas production.

In approving the PPA, the Commission noted it is in compliance with Public Act 295 of 2008.

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth.
