NEWS ADVISORY - Sherwin-Williams of Holland to Receive Star Award for Workplace Safety & Health Excellence

October 5, 2007 - The Sherwin-Williams Company, Holland facility will receive the Star Award, the state's highest workplace safety and health award, from the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA), at a special ceremony and luncheon Friday, October 5, 2007, 11:45 a.m., 636 East 40th St., in Holland.

The Michigan Voluntary Protection Programs (MVPP) Star Award for outstanding safety and health programs is awarded by MIOSHA, and recognizes worksites that provide exemplary safety and health protection for their workers.  The MIOSHA program is part of the Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Growth (DLEG).

DLEG Director Keith Cooley and MIOSHA Director Doug Kalinowski will present the MVPP Star Award to Production representatives Joann Davis and Eve Rose; Materials Department representative Scott Walters; Maintenance Department representatives Trina Moomey, Bill Meyers, and Mickey Wright; and Paul Boesenecker, Safety & Compliance Manager for the site.

The site's employees will spend the morning hours attending their 2007 Safety Day - a day dedicated to safety training.  Corporate and Divisional Paint and Coatings guests include:  Dave Tabar, Director of Corporate Safety; Drew McCandless, Division President; Joel Baxter, Sr. Vice President of Operations; Jeff Dwigans, Regional Vice President of Operations; and Kevin Sykora, Division Director of Safety.  Employees and guests will attend the presentation and luncheon.

Founded in 1866, The Sherwin-Williams Company is a world leader in the manufacture, development, distribution and sale of coatings and related products to professional, industrial, commercial and retail customers.  The Holland site employs 166 workers and is a packager of aerosol paints, industrial and consumer products for the home and automotive markets.
