MPSC Approves Settlement Agreement Lowering Cook Nuclear Plant's Decommissioning Fund Rates

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved a settlement agreement that sets the level of decommissioning costs for the Cook Nuclear Power Plant in Bridgman at $3 million annually. The change will result in a savings of about 50 cents a month for the average Indiana Michigan Power Company residential customer.

The MPSC on April 24 issued an order calling for hearings to be held on the adequacy of Indiana Michigan Power Company's decommissioning fund for the plant. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission recently extended the plant's operating license by 20 years.

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
