MPSC Approves First Natural Gas Renewable Resource Pilot Program for Michigan Consolidated Gas CompanyContact: Judy Palnau, 517-241-3323Agency: Michigan Public Service Commission April 17, 2012 - The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved a natural gas renewable resource pilot program for Michigan Consolidated Gas Company, the first such program offered by a regulated utility in Michigan. Under the BioGreenGas program, up to 2,000 residential customers may elect to pay a renewable resource premium of $2.50 per month to support the consumption and development of natural gas generated from renewable biogas resources. A landfill located in Michigan will be the source of the natural gas supply. Participation in the pilot program will be available for a period of up to 24 months from the effective date of the approved tariff. Customers will be able to terminate their participation in the program at any time. The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
