Winningest Female Jockey

March 6, 1988

Julie Krone became the winningest female jockey in racing history when she won the 1,205th race of her career riding a filly named Squawter in the ninth race at Aqueduct Racetrack.

  • First woman to win a Triple Crown Race, the 1993 Belmont Stakes
  • First woman to win five races in one day at Saratoga Race Course
  • First woman to compete in a Breeder's Cup race
  • Leading jockey at The Meadowlands for four consecutive years (1987-1990)
  • Won six races in one day at The Meadowlands and Monmouth Park
  • One of the top 12 jockeys in earnings for four years
  • Fourth woman to ride in the Kentucky Derby
