The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier
who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. 1st Class James D. Priestap, 39, of Harwood, Mich., 
died Nov. 23 in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries suffered when 
he came in contact with enemy forces using small arms fire 
during checkpoint operations. 

He was assigned to the 46th Military Police Company, Kingsford, Mich.
