Lansing, Mich. - Mandi A.
Murray of Grayling, Mich., a member of the 46th Military Police Command,
Lansing, Michigan Army National Guard, has been promoted to the rank of
brigadier general. Murray is the first female Michigan Army National Guard
soldier to achieve this status.
Murray, an adjutant general
officer, has been a member of the National Guard for 25 years. Murray began
her military career when she enlisted in the Michigan Army National Guard in
1981. She received her commission as a second lieutenant from Northern Michigan
University through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program in 1984. Prior to
her current assignment as the 46th Military Police Command Deputy Commander,
Murray served as a maintenance platoon leader, auditing officer, disbursing
officer, personnel service company and battalion commander, state headquarters
human resource officer, and troop command brigade commander.
In addition to receiving a
Masters Degree in Strategic Studies from the Army War College, Murray graduated
from Command General Staff College.
During her military career,
Murray has received numerous awards including the Meritorious Service Medal,
Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal,
and the Army Service Ribbon.
In civilian life, Murray works
for Trinity Health Care as assistant general counsel. She holds a bachelors
degree from Michigan State University in Nursing and a Jurist Doctorate from the
University of Detroit in Law.
Murray and her husband, Marty,
have two children, Matthew and Mitchell. She is the daughter of Merry Meredith
of Grayling, Mich., and of Michael and Dolores Stillwagon.
