What a Success!

Our thanks to the Consumer Involvement Committee (CIC) for hosting the Talking about Talking Books Program as a part of its annual meeting on October 7, 1999. Melissa Barnard, a contemporary fiction reviewer from Lansing’s Capital Area District Library, was delightful as she gave brief, engaging summaries of each book! Committee members and guests enjoyed a host of delectable goodies, including mini-quiches, chicken fingers, fiesta dip and those unforgettable desserts! Attendees were able to take home book selections at the end of evening or place orders for sending the materials in the future. The list of books discussed during the program follows (we still have copies available for circulation):

RC 16072 Kindred by Octavia Butler
RC 31551 The Road from Coorain by Jill Conway
RC 36244 Patron Saint of Liars by Ann Patchett
RC 39888 Paula by Isabel Allende
RC 41823 Into the Wild by John Krakauer
RC 41993 On Gold Mountain by Lisa See
RC 42878 Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood
RC 43291 Undaunted Courage by Stephen Ambrose
RC 43715 Pope Joan by Donna Cross
RC 44847 Under the Tuscan Sun: At Home in Italy by Frances Mayes

Focus on American Printing House Magazine Renewals

If you subscribe to Reader’s Digest or Newsweek magazines, which are recorded on cassette, look for the annual renewal notice to mailed to your home from the American Printing House (APH). Please return the notice to APH if you want to continue your subscription. If you do not return the notice your subscription will be cancelled. You will have to wait up to eight weeks after notifying our office before your magazine is renewed by APH.
