AccessMichigan and the Michigan Teacher Network (MTN), both recipients of Technology Literacy Grants from the Michigan Department of Education, are planning to work together to promote their grant projects to Michigan schools and libraries.
AccessMichigan's grant project involves licensing a full-text database geared toward K-6 students and teachers. The new database will provide research materials for K-6 students and will be useful to Michigan K-6 teachers in developing curriculum.
Similarly, MTN will assist K-12 teachers in a number of areas, including curriculum resources. MTN's statewide project is designed to support Michigan K-12 educators in the successful use of instructional technology by providing best practice, professional development, and evaluated curriculum resources.
MTN has been careful to design its site so that it doesn't redo good work already done by the Michigan Electronic Library (MEL). As part of MTN's collaboration with AccessMichigan and MEL, MTN includes frequent references to MEL.
MTN is a brand-new project, so many features are not yet fully developed. Nonetheless, teachers and librarians may already find some parts of the site useful.
