The MeL Catalog Steering Committee on Feb. 12 received 10 responses to the Request for Information (RFI) for the MeL Catalog and Portal. Responses were received from the following vendors:
- Analysts International
- Auto-Graphics
- Blue Angel Technologies
- Dynix
- Endeavor Information Systems
- Ex Libris
- Fretwell-Downing
- Innovative Interfaces
- OCLC
- WebFeat
The committee requested demonstrations from several of these vendors for clarification. These demos were held Feb. 18-21 and included presentations from Innovative Interfaces, Dynix, Fretwell-Downing, Auto-Graphics, OCLC with MuseGlobal and Ex Libris. The presentations were very informative and gave the committee an opportunity to clarify RFI responses and see examples of each vendor’s proposed solution.
The committee met Feb. 27 to review the RFI responses and the demos with the goal of analyzing responses to help create a solid Request for Proposal (RFP) for the solution for the MeL Catalog and Portal. The committee plans to have the RFP posted by the Library of Michigan by March 28 and vendors will have six weeks to respond. The committee expects to have the RFP responses evaluated and a vendor chosen by early June.
