Obtaining a Library Card

Agency: History, Arts and Libraries


Obtain a library card by presenting any one of the following at the Circulation Desk:

  1. A valid Michigan driver's license.
  2. A valid Michigan identification card.
  3. A valid voter's registration card.
  4. A valid identification card from a Michigan institution of higher learning which indicates current enrollment.

For minors, a parent or legal guardian's signature is required on the library card application.

The Library of Michigan complies with the guidelines set forth by PA 455 of 1982 (Michigan Compiled Laws 397.601- 397.605: The Library Privacy Act), regarding confidentiality of patron records and circulation transactions.
