| Ways for Businesses to Celebrate Michigan's Heritage |
- Have a sale on Michigan products or offer discounts during Michigan Week.
- Feature an all-Michigan meal on your restaurant's menu.
- Prepare a Michigan display in your front window, lobby or visitor area. Include photographs of your company's involvement in Michigan history. Invite local schoolchildren to draw posters representing Michigan Week for the display.
- Write a feature story on your company's history for the local newspaper.
- Hold a Michigan Week open house!
- Build a float for a local parade.
- Use newsletters, paycheck stuffers and bulletin boards to highlight your company's Michigan history. Print a Michigan Week edition of your employee newsletter, including the Michigan Week logo.
- Dedicate or establish a Michigan Week theme for existing company events.
- Donate artifacts to the Michigan Historical Museum to spotlight unique Michigan industries! Exhibits detail everyday life through the 20th century.
- Recruit volunteers to visit classrooms to talk about your business's unique place in the community.
- Have employees wear buttons (or costumes) celebrating Michigan Week.
- Commission a work of art by a Michiganian or provide space for a revolving exhibition of local artists' work.
- Prepare a company photo history, focusing on the people. Put out a call for photographs and artifacts.
- Sponsor a work-experience exchange with local high schools; allow students to experience being a CEO, line worker or salesperson. Or host a "Bring a Child to Work Day."
- Host a company picnic or potluck featuring a made-in-Michigan menu.
- Team up with other local businesses to make Michigan Week an outstanding event in your community! Combine resources with other companies to sponsor a newspaper ad promoting Michigan Week and celebrating Michigan's businesses.
- Help underwrite restoration of an older building in the community.
- Subscribe to Michigan Week your own unique way, May 17-23, 2008!
