Be a Tourist in Your Own Town

Saturday
May 31, 2008
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Michigan Historical Museum, Lansing

Logo: a stylized state capitol dome and the words Be a Tourist in Your Own Town. The Michigan Historical Museum is proud to participate in Be a Tourist in Your Own Town. The annual event is coordinated by the Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau. This year's events highlight the Lansing area's green endeavors.

At the Michigan Historical Museum, take a walk through Michigan history as you explore our 26 permanent exhibit galleries. Enjoy visiting with members of the Seventh Michigan Volunteer Infantry Regiment reenactors as they present the sights and sounds of a Civil War encampment.

Our sister agency, the Library of Michigan, with one of the largest genealogical collections in the United States, will provide information to visitors interested in researching their family history. Don't miss a great opportunity to begin tracing your family tree!

To participate in Be a Tourist in Your Own Town, purchase a "tourist passport" for just $1, available at many convenient locations. You will receive admission to more than 35 area attractions, free refreshments, eligibility for special prize packages and much more. For more information, visit the official Be a Tourist in Your Own Town web site.

The Michigan Historical Museum is located inside the Michigan Library and Historical Center, 702 West Kalamazoo Street, Lansing. The museum and visitor parking are on the north side of Kalamazoo Street, two blocks east of M. L. King Jr. Boulevard. Here's more information on how to find us.
