Hemlock Semiconductor

Governor Granholm helped encourage Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation (HSC) to embark on a major expansion of its Michigan operations, which will create more than 200 new jobs.  HSC is the leading U.S. supplier of polycrystalline silicon to the semiconductor industry.  The company currently has 345 employees in Michigan.  In 2005, assistance offered by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation helped convince the company to choose Michigan over Kentucky, resulting in a $327 million investment in Michigan.
