Pardons and Commutations

How can I request a pardon or commutation from the Governor?

Pardons for sentenced individuals must first be reviewed by the Parole Board of the State of Michigan before they are presented for review to the Governor’s Office. Parole Board review may include investigation, consultation with the Judge and Prosecuting Attorney in the appropriate county, and a public hearing. If you would like further information on the necessary steps in the process of obtaining a pardon or commutation, please contact the Parole Board; their number is provided below. To request a pardon or commutation, please fill out the Application for Parole.

Parole Board: (517) 373-4888
