Whereas , The National Association of Railway Business Women has distinguished itself as the voice of women in transportation in Michigan since 1938, when the organization's Detroit Chapter #5 was formed; and,
Whereas , The National Association of Railway Business Women has increasingly promoted the employment and advancement of women in the transportation industry; and,
Whereas , The women in the railway transportation community, represented by the National Association of Railway Business Women, have worked to foster cooperation and better understanding within the railroad industry and its affiliates, have created good public relations for the railroad industry, and have undertaken charitable and benevolent projects in their communities; and now therefore be it,
Resolved , That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim the May 16, 2008, as Women in Transportation Day in Michigan. I am proud to recognize the Michigan chapters of the National Association of Railways Business Women and its many dedicated volunteers for their steadfast work on behalf of and in support of women in transportation.
