Gastrointestinal Nursing and Associates Day

Whereas, Gastrointestinal nurses and associates are committed to providing optimal healthcare to patients with gastrointestinal diseases who undergo diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; and,

Whereas, The purpose of Gastrointestinal Nursing and Associates Day is to promote public awareness of gastrointestinal health issues and health care systems, as well as to promote participation in gastrointestinal wellness programs; and,

Whereas, Gastrointestinal nurses and associates have demonstrated their professionalism and compassion for their patients and have continually striven both to upgrade standards of practice and to improve services; and,

Whereas, It is important that the State of Michigan recognize the unity, dedication, and determination found within this professional nursing organization; and now therefore be it,

Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim March 28, 2007, as Gastrointestinal Nursing and Associates Day in Michigan, and I encourage all citizens to recognize the special care gastrointestinal nurses and associates provide to their patients.
