Korean American Day

Whereas, Korean Americans have brought to our nation the gifts of religion, agriculture, art, music, education, technology, architecture, cuisine, and theatre; and,

Whereas, Michigan is fortunate to count among its population a large concentration of citizens of Korean descent; both those who have been a part of our state for generations and those who are new to our Great Lakes State; and,

Whereas, The cultural fabric of Michigan is made richer by the invaluable contributions of Korean Americans throughout our state; and now therefore be it,

Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim January 13, 2007, as Korean American Day.   I encourage all citizens to recognize and applaud the many contributions made by Korean Americans that enhance the quality of life in Michigan.
