Women's Heart Week

Whereas, Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, and more than 64 million Americans are currently diagnosed with some type of cardiovascular disease; and,

 

Whereas, Many factors that contribute to the development of heart disease are preventable through a nutritious diet and regular exercise; and,

 

Whereas, Increased awareness about the causes of heart disease can improve overall health for women; and,

 

Whereas, February is designated as “American Heart Month,” and now therefore be it,

 

Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim the week of February 1, 2006, as Women’s Heart Week in Michigan.
