Whereas, In 1954, the Michigan Society of Radiologic Technologists was established with the goal of better educating radiologic technologists and to gain recognition for the vital role they play on the medical team; and,
Whereas, The radiologic technologist field is divided into several modalities, including diagnostic radiology, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, cardiovascular interventional technology, mammography, C.T. scanning, and M.R.I. imaging; and,
Whereas, There are 8,000 registered radiologic technologists in the state of Michigan who are employed in hospitals and clinics; and,
Whereas, From October 7-9, 2009, members from across Michigan will converge in Bay City for an educational meeting intended for members to share information and updates in the radiologic technologist field;
Now, Therefore, be it Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, governor of the state of Michigan, do hereby proclaim the week of October 4, 2009, Radiologic Technologists Week in Michigan. I encourage all citizens to recognize the valuable and meaningful contributions that radiologic technologists offer on a daily basis.
