Whereas, June 21, 2006, has been designated the 30th anniversary of “Health Occupations Students of American (HOSA) by the National Health Occupations Students of America; and,
Whereas, HOSA is a career and technical student organization for high school and postsecondary students who plan to pursue a health care career; and,
Whereas, HOSA provides a strong foundation for preparing tomorrow’s health care professionals through skill development, leadership opportunities, and community service; and,
Whereas, HOSA is committed to building a pipeline of future health care professionals; and,
Whereas, HOSA is committed to promoting career opportunities in health care and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people; and,
Whereas, Health Science Education and HOSA support and encourage students whose interest lie in pursuing a health care career, thereby helping to alleviate the state shortage of health care workers; and,
Whereas, HOSA promotes the development of responsible citizenship, personal integrity, and compassion for humanity; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim June 21, 2006, as HOSA Day in Michigan.
