Dear Fellow State Employee:

I am delighted to join with the National Association of State Personnel Executives in observing National Public Service Recognition Week which begins today. And, I am pleased to tell you that I have specifically designated Wednesday, May 7, as State Employee Recognition Day.

We have a very dedicated workforce in this state, and I don't want to miss this opportunity to thank you and recognize your efforts, even in small and symbolic ways. If your break schedule and workload can accommodate it, I hope you will be able to stop by one of the following simple "coffee breaks" to give me - and some of the key members of this administration - the privilege of meeting you and the opportunity to thank you for your service:

Tuesday, May 6, 3:30 - 4:15 p.m.
Grand Rapids State Office Building
Second Floor - Michigan Room
The First Gentleman, Daniel Granholm Mulhern, will join me in honoring you.

Wednesday, May 7, 3:30 - 4:15 p.m.
Detroit, Cadillac Place, East Showroom
Dan Mulhern, the First Gentleman, will again join me at this event

Thursday, May 8, 9:15 - 10 a.m.
Lansing, Capitol Rotunda
Lieutenant Governor John Cherry, Majority Leader Ken Sikkema, Speaker of the House Rick Johnson, Democratic Leader Bob Emerson, and House Minority Leader Dianne Byrum, will join me in hosting the festivities.

Thursday, May 8, 3:30 - 4:15 p.m.
Lansing Secondary Complex General Office Building, Conference Room A
Lt. Governor Cherry and I will host the event.

I wish geography and workload would allow me to personally thank each and every one of you this week, but I know that will not be possible. If we don't connect, please know that I greatly value having you as a co-worker. I am excited about what we can do together to make Michigan the very best state in the nation to live, to work, and to raise a family.

Sincerely,

Jennifer M. Granholm
Governor
