Operation ReachBack Day

Whereas, As an organization of Christians “reaching back” to help others, the Motor City Operation ReachBack Chapter is an invaluable resource to the people of Detroit; and,

Whereas, By involvement in many action plans, including youth mentorship, educational scholarship, education in prevention of destructive behaviors such as using drugs or alcohol, service in Africa, city-wide forums on self-help and awareness, interdisciplinary and intradisciplinary fellowship, teenage preventive counseling and family education; and,

Whereas, Operation ReachBack’s purpose is to foster research, provide scholarships, organize and facilitate role models, promote professional and spiritual development as a means to solidify the African American community; and,

Whereas, Operation ReachBack is a charitable, educational and non-profit organization of professionals of African descent within the Seventh-day Adventist Church committed to strengthening the African American community; and now therefore be it,

Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim March 27, 2004, as Operation ReachBack Day in Michigan.
