Whereas, The temporary help industry contributes greatly to the economic vitality of the state of Michigan with their talent, discipline, and skill; and,
Whereas, The staffing industry matches millions of people to millions of jobs a year and offers flexibility to both employees and companies with staff choosing when, where and how they want to work and companies getting the skills they need to keep fully staffed during busy times; and,
Whereas, Temporary work provides a bridge to permanent employment where people can try out a prospective employer and showcase their skills for a permanent job with 72 percent of temporary employees going on to permanent work; and,
Whereas, The staffing industry provides free training for millions of assigned employees to help meet today’s demand for skilled workers; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan to hereby proclaim the week September 27, 2004, as Temporary Help Week in Michigan.
