Whereas, The promotion and protection of the public's health is of paramount
concern in today’s society; and,
Whereas, Michigan's citizens expect and deserve to live in healthy communities;
and,
Whereas, Our government must rely on many organizations, institutions and persons
to work in concert to provide the necessary services and activities to achieve
these goals; and,
Whereas, Michigan's public health system incorporates and relies on a broad
array of partners to be successful; and,
Whereas, We are also celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Michigan's landmark
Public Health Code, Public Act 368 of 1978; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan,
do hereby proclaim the week of April 7, 2003 as Public Health Week in Michigan.
I encourage all of Michigan’s citizens to use this week to recognize the
contributions made by public health, public health practitioners, and those
individuals and organizations working along side them to protect and improve
the health of all our people and communities.
