Whereas, Roller skating has entertained American families for 247 years, and provides a great way to exercise and relax in the company of family and friends and adding to the enjoyment and fulfillment of a day or evening together; and,

Whereas, There are over 66 roller skating centers in Michigan allowing our citizens to join the million of skaters nationally who enjoy this invigorating sport; and,

Whereas, Roller skating centers across the nation will be celebrating "Roller Skating Month" by sponsoring skating events and awareness programs to promote it as healthy and fun exercise for the entire family; and now therefore be it,

Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 2007, as Roller Skating Month.
