LANSING - Governor Jennifer Granholm today announced the following recent appointments and reappointments:
Michigan Film Advisory Commission
Hopwood DePree of Holland, CEO of TicTock Studios, is reappointed to represent broad areas of film and motion picture-making, production of television programs and commercials, and related industries in Michigan for a term expiring September 30, 2013.
Cory A. Jacobson of Southfield, owner of Phoenix Theaters, is reappointed to represent Michigan-based theater owners for a term expiring September 30, 2013.
Emery C. King of Bloomfield Hills, owner and vice president of Kingberry Productions Company, is reappointed to represent residents of this state for a term expiring September 30, 2013.
Sue E. Marx of Birmingham, president of Sue Marx Films, Inc., is reappointed to represent broad areas of film and motion picture-making, production of television programs and commercials, and related industries in Michigan for a term expiring September 30, 2013.
The Michigan Film Advisory Commission assists the Michigan Film Office in promoting the state's film, television and video production industries and attracting media business to Michigan. It also has the responsibility of advising the governor and the Legislature on how to promote and market Michigan locations, facilities, crews, talent and related services.
These reappointments are not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
Advisory Committee on Pain and Symptom Management
Daniel J. Clauw, M. D. of Ann Arbor, professor of anesthesiology with the University of Michigan, is reappointed to represent the University of Michigan School of Medicine for a term expiring July 1, 2011.
M. Jean Friend of St. Johns, retired aging and nutrition consultant, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring July 1, 2011.
Frenchie D. McCall of Farmington Hills, retired clinical social worker is reappointed to represent individuals who have been diagnosed as chronic pain sufferers for a term expiring July 1, 2011.
Karen S. Ogle, M.D. of East Lansing, professor in the Department of Family Medicine, College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University. Dr. Ogle is reappointed to represent Michigan State University College of Human Medicine for a term expiring July 1, 2011.
Lawrence L. Prokop, D.O. of East Lansing, associate professor with the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, is reappointed to represent the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine for a term expiring July 1, 2011.
Maria J. Silveira, M.D., M.A., M.P.H. of Northville, assistant professor with the University of Michigan Division of General Medicine, is reappointed to represent the Michigan Hospice and Palliative Care Association for a term expiring July 1, 2011.
Michael A. Stellini, M. D. of Taylor, assistant professor of medicine at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, is reappointed to represent the Wayne State University School of Medicine for a term expiring July 1, 2011.
The Advisory Committee on Pain and Symptom Management is charged with addressing issues pertaining to pain and symptom management, holding public hearings to gather information from the general public, and making recommendations to the Legislature.
This appointment is not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
Michigan Board of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery
Howard L. Lazar, DPM, JD of Bloomfield Hills, executive director of the American Board of Lower Extremity Surgery, is appointed to represent podiatrists for a term expiring June 30, 2013. He succeeds Richard Seiler whose term has expired.
Lily Y. Gee of Haslett, former chair of the Administrative Law Section for the State Bar of Michigan, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2013.
Harry A. Kezelian, DPM of Bloomfield Hills, podiatrist in private practice, is reappointed to represent podiatrists for a term expiring June 30, 2013.
The Michigan Board of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery provides for the licensure and examination of podiatrists and podiatric surgeons.
These appointment and reappointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
Board of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons
Don R. Hiltunen of Hancock, freelance real estate broker, is appointed to represent real estate brokers and salespersons for a term expiring June 30, 2013. He succeeds Michael Glasson whose term has expired.
Daniel C. Samson of Huntington Woods, CEO of Sterling Group, is reappointed to represent real estate brokers and salespersons for a term expiring June 30, 2013.
Mark J. Wehner of Lansing, program developer for Sparrow Hospital, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2013.
The Board of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons provides for the licensing and regulation of real estate salespersons, real estate brokers, and associate real estate brokers.
These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
Michigan Community Service Commission
Kara I. Carlisle of Portage, program officer for W.K. Kellogg Foundation, is appointed to represent experts in the delivery of human, educational, environmental, or public safety services to communities and persons for a term expiring October 1, 2012. She succeeds Christine Kwak whose term has expired.
James G. Vella of Canton, president of Ford Motor Company Fund, is appointed to represent business for a term expiring October 1, 2012. He succeeds Jimmie Comer whose term has expired.
Vernice L. Davis Anthony of West Bloomfield, president and CEO of Greater Detroit Area Health Council, is reappointed to represent experts in the delivery of human, educational, environmental, or public safety services to communities and persons for a term expiring October 1, 2012.
Antoine L. Campbell of Rockford, vice president of community investment for Heart of West Michigan United Way, is reappointed to represent experts in the delivery of human, educational, environmental, or public safety services to communities and persons for a term expiring October 1, 2012.
Robert Collier of Grand Rapids, president and CEO of Council of Michigan Foundations, is reappointed to represent community-based agencies for a term expiring October 1, 2012.
Michael P. Flanagan of Lansing, superintendent of public instruction, is reappointed for a term expiring October 1, 2012.
Janet L. Lawson of Troy, director of the Ford Volunteer Corps for Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services, is reappointed to represent experts in the delivery of human, educational, environmental, or public safety services to communities and persons for a term expiring October 1, 2012.
Daniel G. Mulhern of Lansing, is reappointed to represent experts in the delivery of human, educational, environmental, or public safety services to communities and persons for a term expiring October 1, 2012.
Bernard F. Parker of Detroit, county commissioner for Wayne County, is reappointed to represent local government for a term expiring October 1, 2012.
Alphonso Swain of Haslett, associate director for Capitol Area Center for Independent Living, is reappointed to represent experts in the delivery of human, educational, environmental, or public safety services to communities and persons for a term expiring October 1, 2012.
The Michigan Community Service Commission is a bipartisan state agency charged with funding and supporting programs to encourage Michigan residents to volunteer. The commission is chaired by First Gentleman Daniel G. Mulhern.
These appointments are not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
Great Lakes Wind Council
Dennis Assanis, Ph.D. of Ann Arbor, director of the Michigan Memorial Phoenix Energy Institute, and Jon R. and Beverly S. Holt professor of engineering for the University of Michigan, is appointed to represent other residents of this state for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
Brett French of Ishpeming, senior regional manager of external affairs in Michigan for American Transmission Company, is appointed to represent other residents of this state for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
Michael O'Brien of Douglas, Great Lakes project director of Bluewater Wind, LLC, is appointed to represent other residents of this state for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
Christopher Trebilcock of Royal Oak, principal of Miller, Canfield, Paddock, and Stone, PLC, is appointed to represent other residents of this state for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
Adesoji Adelaja, Ph.D. of Okemos, director and founder of the Michigan State University Land Policy Institute, and John A. Hannah Distinguished Professor in land policy, is reappointed to represent other residents of this state for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
Arnold "Arn" Boezaart of Spring Lake, interim director of the Michigan Alternative and Renewable Energy Center at Grand Valley State University, is reappointed to represent other residents of this state for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
Leonard Bohmann, Ph.D. of Houghton, associate dean for academic affairs for the Michigan Technological University College of Engineering, is reappointed to represent other residents of this state for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
James Clift of Lansing, policy director of the Michigan Environmental Council, is reappointed to represent statewide environmental organizations for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
Wilfred Cwikiel of Harbor Springs, principal of Harbor Springs Middle School, is reappointed to represent other residents of this state for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
Frank Ettawageshik of Harbor Springs, chair of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians, is reappointed to represent Native American tribal governments for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
Margaret "Peg" Gale, Ph.D. of Calumet, dean for the Michigan Technological University School of Forest Resources and Environmental Science, is reappointed to represent other residents of this state for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
Dennis Grinold of Lansing, member of the Michigan Charter Boat Association, is reappointed to represent the charter fishing industry for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
Curtis Hertel, Sr. of Grosse Pointe Woods, executive director of the Detroit-Wayne County Port Authority, is reappointed to represent the commercial shipping industry for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
Thomas Hickner of Bay City, Bay County executive, is reappointed to represent local government officials for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
M. Jack Knowles, III of Ann Arbor, vice president of Dietrich, Bailey and Associates, P.C., is reappointed to represent other residents of this state for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
Steven Kurmas of Shelby Township, president and chief operating officer of Detroit Edison for DTE, is reappointed to represent electric utilities for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
Marty Lagina of Traverse City, chief executive officer of Heritage Sustainable Energy, LLC, is reappointed to represent the wind energy development industry for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
James MacInnes of Beulah, president and co-owner of Crystal Mountain Resort and Spa, is reappointed to represent the tourism industry for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
John Russell of East Lansing, president and chief operating officer of Consumers Energy, is reappointed to represent electric utilities for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
Richard Vander Veen, III of Lowell, president of Mackinaw Power, is reappointed to represent other residents of this state for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
Joseph Welch of Monroe, chairman, president and chief executive officer of ITC Holdings Corp., is reappointed to represent independent electric transmission companies for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
The Great Lakes Wind Council is an advisory body within the Department of Energy, Labor, and Economic Growth that provides citizens with a public forum to begin to identify where, in the Great Lakes, wind energy systems may be prudently sited.
These appointments are not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
