LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments and reappointments:

Michigan Board of Physical Therapy
 
Mecha L. Crockett of Lansing, president and CEO of Learning Curves, a parent child computer learning foundation, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2009.  She succeeds the late Robert L. Carr.

Elizabeth Mostrom of Grand Rapids, director of clinical education and professor at Central Michigan University, is reappointed to represent physical therapists for a term expiring December 31, 2011.   

David W. Perry, PT, MS of Grosse Pointe Woods, chair of the physical therapist assistant program at Baker College of Allen Park, is reappointed to represent physical therapists for a term expiring December 31, 2011.

Linda M. Thomas-Pilarczyk of Parma, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2011.

The Michigan Board of Physical Therapy was created by Act 164 of 1965.  Pursuant to Act 368 of 1978, the board provides for the licensure and examination of persons prior to their entry into the practice of physical therapy. 

These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.

Michigan Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery

Barry C. Kane of Grand Rapids, attorney and managing member of Kane & Co. PLC law firm, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2009.  He succeeds Edward Benson whose term has expired.

Gale E. Easton of Jackson, physician assistant with Trimas Family Care, is reappointed to represent physician's assistants for a term expiring December 31, 2011.

Paulette J. Lindberg of Marquette, former owner of Adventure Travel and Tour, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2011.  

The Michigan Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery is responsible for the licensure and examination of persons prior to their entry into the practice of osteopathic medicine and surgery in Michigan.

These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.

Joint Task Force for Health Professions in Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery

René L. Hernandez of Alma, program director of health science for Saginaw Valley State University, is appointed to represent physicians' assistants for a term expiring December 31, 2011.  She succeeds Lori B. Oswald whose term has expired.

Sherry L. Lepird of Portage, former office coordinator for the Physician Assistant Department at Western Michigan University, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2011.  She succeeds Mahmoud M. Awad whose term has expired.

Karl G. Wagner, Jr. of New Hudson, certified physician assistant with St. John Health Occupational Health Partners, is appointed to represent physicians' assistants for a term expiring December 31, 2011.  He succeeds James W. Levy whose term has expired.

Michael A. Davis of Harbor Beach, staff physician assistant with Huron Medical Center, is reappointed to represent physicians' assistants for a term expiring December 31, 2011.

Bernard J. O'Brien of Alpena, certified physician assistant with Alcona Health Center, is reappointed to represent physicians' assistants for a term expiring December 31, 2011.

David S. Weingarden, M.D., of Southfield, member of the Michigan Board of Medicine and president of David S. Weingarden, M.D. & Associates, P.C., is reappointed to represent the Michigan Board of Medicine for a term expiring December 31, 2011. 

The Joint Task Force for Health Professions in Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery is responsible for the licensure and examination of persons prior to their entry into practice as a physician's assistant.

These appointments and reappointments are subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.

Michigan Developmental Disabilities Council                                                                              

Robert J. Spruce of Detroit, outreach and education assistant with Gateway Community Health, is appointed to represent individuals with developmental disabilities for a term expiring September 30, 2010.  He succeeds Betty J. Walton whose term has expired.

Elmer L. Cerano of White Lake, executive director of Michigan Protection & Advocacy Services, Inc., is reappointed to represent the protection and advocacy system in this state for a term expiring September 30, 2010.

Caryn A. Pack Ivey of Detroit, parent advocate for Wayne RESA and parent liaison for Great Start Collaborative-Wayne, is reappointed to represent parents or guardians of children with developmental disabilities for a term expiring September 30, 2010.

Barbara W. LeRoy of Ann Arbor, director of the Developmental Disabilities Institute at Wayne State University, is reappointed to represent university centers for excellence in developmental disabilities education, research, and service for a term expiring September 30, 2010.

Paul D. Palmer of Lansing, an active volunteer, is reappointed to represent individuals with developmental disabilities for a term expiring September 30, 2010.

The Michigan Developmental Disabilities Council advocates for people with developmental disabilities.  Complete inclusion and helping the disabled reach their full potential is the primary objective of the council.

These appointments and reappointments are not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
