Granholm Announces Appoinment of Noceeba Southern as Judge of 36th District Court

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of Noceeba Southern as judge of the 36th District Court, which serves the city of Detroit, for a term expiring January 1, 2011. She replaces Judge Mark A. Randon who was recently appointed as a federal magistrate.
Southern, of Detroit, most recently served as assistant attorney in the Economic Crimes Unit with the United States Attorney's Office. She was formerly an associate with Dykema Gossett, PLLC law firm and a law clerk for Judge Damon J. Keith with the 6th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. She is a past member of the Wolverine Bar Association board of directors and former president of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan.
Southern earned her law degree from the University of Michigan Law School and her bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan.
This appointment is not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
