Laboratory science is critical to the overall health of individuals as well as entire communities. Laboratory staff may help doctors diagnose conditions by analyzing specimens. Other responsibilities include analyzing environmental samples like soil, water and air to determine if they contain chemicals. Laboratory staff may also analyze forensic evidence on a crime scene to help law enforcement officials.
