INFORMATION FROM THE FAMILY INDEPENDENCE AGENCY (FIA)

You or your landlord (if you are renting) have received notice of a hearing for nonpayment of property taxes. This notice is not the final decision, but notice of a show cause hearing as to why the taxes have not been paid.

This is to notify you that you may be eligible for help in paying your tax arrears, if you are the homeowner, or help with a security deposit to move to a new home if you are a renter and evicted.

The Department of Natural Resources representative is providing you with a list of Family Independence Agency offices. If you need help with your taxes, or to move to a new home, you may be able to get help from FIA.

If you need help, you should contact the Family Independence Agency in your county. They will consider your income, assets and other circumstances to determine if you are eligible for help.
