Position: Fisheries Technician

Interests/Responsibilities: As technician aboard our research vessel the Steelhead. I am responsible for all biological data that is collected and processing of samples. Current studies include yellow perch, lake trout, and lake whitefish adult population assessments, Chinook salmon abundance surveys; fall yellow perch recruitment estimates; and forage fish biomass estimates. Data collected is used to evaluate many aspects including the success of stocking programs, contaminant levels for consumption advisories, the success of sport fishing regulations, and to develop management plans for major fish stocks in Lake Michigan.
