The Mackinac Island State Park Commission (MISPC) will meet on Wednesday, March 23 at 1:30 p.m. in Lansing. The meeting will take place in the fifth floor boardroom in the Library of Michigan building at 702 W. Kalamazoo. Attendees should take the library side elevators to the fifth floor.
The Mackinac Island State Park Commission consists of seven members appointed by the governor of Michigan and confirmed by the Michigan senate. Commissioners serve six-year terms. Dennis O. Cawthorne has served as MISPC Chairman since 1991. The commission was formed in 1895 and is responsible for all aspects of managing Mackinac State Historic Parks.
Mackinac State Historic Parks is a family of living history museums and parks in Northern Michigan’s Straits of Mackinac region, and is an agency within the Michigan Department of History, Arts and Libraries. Sites include Fort Mackinac, Historic Downtown and Mackinac Island State Park on Mackinac Island, and Colonial Michilimackinac, Historic Mill Creek and Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse in Mackinaw City.
